Hi everyone, Lea here!
Traci Shoblom, a friend of CMR, (and my mom!) has published a new book titled Apollo’s Creed: Lessons I Learned From My Astronaut Dad.
As the title suggests, the book shares a series of anecdotes from Traci’s perspective growing up with a dad who was an astronaut! It’s an insider’s look at the life of Richard Gordon, the command module pilot of the Apollo 12 mission. Every chapter builds up to a life lesson that Richard shares with his daughter, and he explains how he used this knowledge to become so successful in his life.
Richard’s wisdom in Apollo’s Creed isn’t just for astronauts, these are universal life lessons that can be valuable to anyone. For example, in one of the chapters, Traci recalls the time that her dad explains the value of a good friend by describing his best friend and fellow Apollo astronaut, Pete Conrad. In another chapter, Richard teaches Traci why doing something right the first time is important by comparing actual rocket science to everyday household chores. However, the ultimate takeaway of the book leaves you with the same feeling of inspiration that Carla’s Movie Restaurant brings to the community: Live your life the way you want to, and give it everything you’ve got.
Here’s a link to the Amazon store page so that you can check it out for yourself! Not only is Apollo’s Creed a fascinating biography about the private life of a national hero, but it’s also a touching story about a dad, his daughter, and wisdom passed on through generations. Check it out here:
